( 6A) Funding for Emerging Monarch Resource Community Program
A total of $400,000 in grant funds was awarded by the California Office of Emergency Services to fund an emerging Family Justice Center in Napa County. These funds, dispersed over a two year period, will be utilized for the County’s new Monarch Resource Community program aimed to better serve vulnerable victims of crime in our County. Our District Attorney has been working together with community partners to develop this program which will utilize existing resources to provide a variety of person-centered victim services in order to minimize the challenges and trauma for survivors of domestic violence, elder abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking. Local non-profit NEWS will be using $150,000 in order to provide staffing needed to get this program running.
(6F) Napa River Restoration Project
A revenue agreement was approved this week, providing the County with a total of $250,000 in funds to be used towards the current phase of the Napa River Restoration Project. These funds, provided by Caltrans, will ensure the completion of revegetation efforts to offset impacts associated with two bridge replacement projects by Caltrans in our County. Revegetation efforts will include off-site tree planting as part of the Oakville to Oak Knoll (OVOK) Restoration Project.
( 9A) Electronic Filing for Elections Division
Currently, local agencies require that elected officers, candidates, and committees who receive contributions totaling more than $2,000 and/or makes expenditures totaling more than $2,000 in a calendar year to file campaign reports and statements through physical form submittal, online, or electronically with a local filing officer. This week the Board adopted an ordinance which will now require electronic filing only, resulting in a process that is easier for the filer and less time-consuming for Election Division staff. This ordinance will also provide the public online access to these important campaign documents.
Congratulations to Lizbeth Salazar for her appointment to serve on the Napa County Youth Opportunities Commission!
